Take the River Promenade to Riverbend Plaza

The River Promenade is a 15-minute walk along a cement path that meanders alongside the Napa River, ending at the Riverbend Plaza. Here are five of the best places to stop en route to Riverbend Plaza.

  1. If you’re in the mood for a delicious meal, Celadon is a great choice. This establishment serves “global comfort food,” which translates to “delicious” in any language. The beautiful dining room and garden courtyard offer great seating options to take in a meal from any part of the world you can imagine. The eclectic menu is, of course, accompanied by a stellar wine list.
  2. If you have been snacking all day, perhaps you’d just like something sweet. Sweetie Pies is the perfect place to satisfy a craving. Known for more than just its pies, you’ll find everything here from breakfast pastries and coffee to small sweet bites. However, one look at their cafe menu, and you may not be able to resist their scrumptious salads and fresh-made sandwiches.
  3. The Vintage Sweet Shoppe is another great option for something sweet accompanied by a glass of wine. While there is plenty of eating to be done on this stop, this is also a great place to stop in and do some shopping. Their signature chocolates and toffees make for great souvenirs for anyone you left at home.
  4. If you’re likely to enjoy large art installations, then this promenade towards the Riverbend Plaza is the right places to amble. Be sure to stop outside the Napa Mill to see Ars Longa Vita Brevis, which is latin for Life is Brief But Art Endures. This two-tiered glass mosaic made by Alan Shepp is a wonder to witness, as it depicts the Napa Valley’s history and natural heritage.
  5. The Napa Mill, now home to award-winning restaurants, retail shops and a day spa, the mill can be a final stop before heading out to take in the view from the Riverbend Plaza located just outside its doors. You’ll be able to get a great meal or drink at this last stop while enjoying one of their outdoor seating areas overlooking the Napa River.
  6. If an afternoon of meandering around and enjoying the sights and sounds has made you work up an appetite, stop in Angele. This restaurant is in what was an old boat house and its decor is nothing short of simple elegance. Enjoy a meal on the balcony overlooking the river or in the dining room, or a glass of wine and an appetizer at the bar.
