Shaping Napa’s History: Contemporary Art at its Finest

The Napa Art Walk is a biennial, rotating exhibition of handpicked sculptures created by artists from the Western U.S. This picturesque outdoor museum is free, trails along the romantic Napa Valley skyline, and is open to the public all year long.

Whether you’re an art lover, a couple looking for a romantic night in downtown Napa, or a family in need of a change of pace, the Napa Art Walk is a fantastic option! Additionally, art collectors will be pleased to know that all the pieces featured in the ArtWalk are for sale. 10 percent of sales even support future Napa ArtWalks!

What You’ll See

Each exhibition is on display for two years and is typically representative of a specific theme. For example, “Celebrating the Napa River” was the theme of the 2009-2011 ArtWalk. Check the website if you want a better idea of the artists and sculptural work that are currently featured. If you’ve made it all the way through the exhibits, the Yountville Art Walk is an excellent option for those who wish to extend their tour of the area’s best art.

Meet the Artists

Not many visitors know that each exhibition opens with an opportunity to meet the artists behind the featured sculptures. Plan your next visit around Opening Reception, held at the Napa Inn Complex. If you’re interested, artists will be available to discuss their creative process and describe the conceptual and immaterial properties of their work in greater detail. For insider updates on this event, sign up for the ArtWalk’s email newsletter.

Download the Otocast App for a Free Audio Tour

Does the idea of being part of a tour group make you cringe? Luckily, your Napa Art Walk experience can be supplemented with information from the Otocast app (which can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the App Store). Once you’ve downloaded the app, search “Napa ArtWalk” and select which sculpture you’d like to hear more about. Most of these informative recordings feature insight directly from the artists themselves!

Interact with the Exhibition Using Social Media

Once you’ve visited every sculpture, select a photo you’ve taken at the ArtWalk and post it to Instagram with the hashtag #napaartwalk. This enters you for a chance to win dinner for two in downtown Napa and a year-long membership to the Arts Council of Napa Valley! You’ll be able to submit any time within the two-year duration of the exhibition. Bonus tip: Make sure you visit the ArtWalk’s website to vote for the sculpture you think should win the People’s Choice Award!
