Don’t Miss the 5th Annual Reindeer Run

Grab your reindeer antlers and your Rudolph nose and plan to spend Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, dashing through Napa Valley during the fifth annual Napa Valley Reindeer Run and Walk! This fun event attracts runners and walkers of all ages and speeds for a fun run/walk complete with incredible views of the valley on both the 5K and 10K routes!

About the Reindeer Run

If you plan to be in Napa Valley during the race, why not take part? Same-day, onsite registration is available (online registration is open through Nov. 30) and it’s a great way to get a little exercise in during your trip and see the beautiful area from a different perspective.

Visit the official Reindeer Run website to register. The cost is $35+ admission fee for the 5K and $40+ admission fee for the 10K. All participants receive a Reindeer Run T-shirt and a goodie bag!

The race will follow a new course this year, which winds through the Thompson Trail on the Wetlands Edge View Area Trailhead in American Canyon. The city of American Canyon is about a 15-minute ride from Churchill Manor in Napa and it is home to an array of wonderful places to hike.

Funds for this year’s race go to KHOPE International, a local non-profit organization with the mission to end poverty for women and children. Through American Canyon Resource Center, scholarships will be awarded to American Canyon High School seniors to support college expenses.

Running in Napa Valley

Those who have visited Napa before know that there is more to the area than simply wine. Of course, wine is a huge part of “who” Napa is, but there are also plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. The area’s rolling hills and stunning landscapes are the perfect combination for hikers, bikers and runners!

Several nearby parks offer trails and paved paths for runners, including:

• The Napa Valley Vine Trail
• Napa Valley Land Trust
• Skyline Wilderness Park

Even if you won’t be in town for the Reindeer Run this year (you’ll have to plan for next year!), there are several great road races in Napa throughout the year. A couple of the bigger ones include:

• Napa Valley Marathon (March)
• Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon (July)
