Several Napa Valley events excel at pairing the best the region has to offer – delicious wine, delectable cuisine and breathtaking scenery – with special causes that are near and dear to our community. Fundraising events, such as the annual Auction Napa Valley, call attention to needs in the community and offer proceeds to help support them. Since Auction Napa Valley was created in 1981, it has invested more than $150 million into Napa County nonprofit organizations. What can you expect from this year’s exciting event? Take a look!
This year’s festival, organized by Napa Valley Vintners, will run June 2-5, 2016. Ticketholders can expect to experience four incredible days of food, wine and some of the most beautiful locations in Napa Valley. The Schedule of Events includes:
Vintner Welcome Parties – Participating wineries open their doors for a casual party to kick-off the festivities.
Vintner-Hosted Al Fresco Parties – A new addition to the festival lineup during which you can enjoy brunch and outdoor activities at local vineyards including bocce, yoga and plein air art classes.
Napa Valley Barrel Auction – Always an exciting event, this year’s barrel auction will take place at the Robert Mondavi Winery, which also happens to be celebrating its 50th anniversary! This large event gives you the opportunity to explore the lush vineyard as well as sample a few of the more than 100 current release wines available and nibble on delicious appetizers before participating (if you choose) in the exciting barrel auction.
Live Auction Celebration – The Live Auction Celebration takes place Saturday evening at the Meadowood Napa Valley. Enjoy a pre-auction reception, the live auction – held under the grand tent – dinner, dancing and more! What can you bid on during the auction? Think: wine, adventures and art!
The four ticket offerings available for the event include:

The first ever auction Napa Valley was held in 1981 and raised $141,000 for two local hospitals. A highlight of the first festival occurred when temperatures soared to over 100 degrees and vintners who were pouring samples during the barrel tasting (held outdoors) were given an ice-cold six-pack of beer to sip on to stay cool! Barrel tastings were moved inside for the next year’s festival. The star-studded event has also featured many famous faces through the years from the entertainment and the wine community. Dana Carvey, The Bangles, Lyle Lovett, Ryan Seacrest, Jay Leno, Robert Mondavi, and more, have made an appearance at the festival.
Celebrities certainly add to the fun of the event, but the locals and visitors who purchase tickets to attend this annual event help make a difference. Proceeds during the last 36 years have gone to fund a range of needs in the community from children’s education programs to health care.
In addition to these incredible events, Napa Valley is host to a slew of other exciting festivals throughout the year including film festivals, a truffle festival and more!
A fantastic festival is a great reason to start planning your trip to the wine country. This region is full of life, picture perfect scenery at every turn, lush vineyards, incredible sunsets and more things to do and see than you can accomplish in one visit. Distinct wineries, beautiful landscapes and luxurious accommodations await!
