Napa’s Hagafen Winery: Showcasing What Nature has Provided

A glass of Chardonnay in an outdoor settingErnie Weir, a co-founder of Hagafen Cellars in Napa, says he’s deeply involved in the wine-growing and making processes, yet he never seeks to change what nature has provided. Instead, he looks for ways to take what comes of the soil, the weather, and the grapes, and showcase it. As a result, the fruits of labor at the Hagafen Winery are enjoyed by typical wine enthusiasts as well as diplomats dining at the White House. Don’t miss your chance to visit this Napa Valley winery and tasting room and see for yourself what others have already discovered.

The first step to planning an incredible wine getaway is reserving the perfect place to stay. Churchill Manor Bed & Breakfast is just a 13-minute drive from Hagafen Winery, so you can easily visit as many times as you wish!

History of the Hagafen Winery

The family-owned and operated winery was founded in 1979 and produced its first vintage in 1980. You’ll find it about a mile south of the Stags Leap District and a stone’s throw from the Oak Knoll District. It was founded by Irit and Ernie Weir who have stayed true to their commitment to producing bold wines. The winery’s climb from a small, boutique winery to an award-winning producer featured at more than 20 diplomat dinners at the White House, has been based on two things: careful vineyard management and winemaking techniques that complement the harvest.

Did you know? Hagafen Cellars is one of only a handful of kosher wineries in Napa!

One more thing, Irit, Ernie, and the rest of their team also believe in creating wines that they would like to enjoy, themselves. It’s this dedication to the process and the product that leads to award-winning varietals of Hagafen wines. The following are just some of the wines that keep oenophiles coming back again and again:

  • Cabernet Franc
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Chardonnay
  • Merlot
  • Pinot Noir
  • Roussanne
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Syrah
  • Riesling
  • Brut Cuvée sparkling wines
  • Dessert wines.
