Top 6 Things You Should Know Before Visiting the Hess Winery

1. Make a Reservation

The best way to enjoy a wine tasting at Hess Winery is to make a reservation. Walk-ins are accepted, but they are subject to availability. You can also reserve a spot at the standing tasting bar, which is open daily from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. If your group includes more than 6 people, you will need to contact the winery’s guest relations staff.

2. Exclusive Experiences

The words “exclusive experience” translate into an incredible wine tasting when you visit Hall Winery & Art Museum. Of course, there are the typical wine tastings, which are incredible in and of themselves. But if you’re looking to experience more than a wine tasting, be sure to check out the exclusive experience packages that Hess Winery offers. These packages include:

  • Vine to Table, Tour & Luncheon – Tour of the Mont La Salle vineyard on an ATV, and then Chef Chad Hendrickson presents guests with a three-course farm-to-table meal.
  • Tour of the Palate – A guided tour of The Hess Collection Art Museum, and wine tasting paired with culinary creations from the Chef’s kitchen.
  • Tour, Wine & Cheese Experience – Walk the vineyards, and then taste the current releases with an artisan cheese board.
  • Tour, Wine & Chocolate Indulgence – Enjoy a guided tour of the Hess Collection, and wine samples paired with artisan truffles.

3. Don’t Leave Without Checking out the Hess Art Collection

Donald Hess, Swiss entrepreneur and founder of Hess Collection Winery & Art Museum, began collecting art in 1966. The Hess Art Collection features contemporary art, and only a quarter of his collection is featured in the museum. The rest of the collection can be found in museums across the world. The museum is open to the public daily without admission. But if you’re looking for a more in-depth experience, consider booking the guided tour museum walk.

4. Food & Wine

Executive Chef Chad Hendrickson keeps his kitchen eco-conscious by utilizing local organic and sustainably-grown products to create his dishes. He personally pairs the food and wine to complement each other. While at the Hess Winery, Hendrickson also created the special Tour of the Palate program for visitors. Tour of the Palate is an exclusive experience that allows guests to taste three current release wines that are paired with his dishes.

5. Join the Hess Collector’s Club

If you enjoy your time at the Hess Winery and you’re planning to return, it might be a good idea to join the Hess Collector’s Club. The Hess Collector’s Club allows guests to experience Hess Winery at an elevated level. Members of the Hess Collector’s Club will receive discounts on tours and tastings, wine and gift merchandise, invitations to exclusive winery events, VIP access to the Visitors Center and Hess Art Collection, and more.
