Fill your day with fine wine and delectable cuisine as you sit back and relax on the Napa Valley Wine Train. One of the many tours offered by the company, the “Day Tripper” is a unique excursion unlike anything you have experienced before. Your day will consist of a multiple course gourmet meal on the train between stops at some of the partnering wineries. Unwind as you travel through Napa’s picturesque scenery.
There are plenty of shops, boutiques, and specialty stores in and around Napa Valley to keep you busy all day! Begin your day of shopping locally at the Riverbend Plaza. Just minutes from Churchill Manor, there is always the option to walk there and explore the shops next to the riverfront. Spend the day there, or go a half hour away to continue shopping in Sonoma Plaza for a variety of small shops ranging from quaint boutiques to delectable chocolate shops.
Napa Valley itself isn’t the only place for vineyards and wineries! Travel a bit outside of Napa to see what other winemakers have to offer. One recommendation is Matanzas Creek Winery, located less than an hour away from Churchill Manor. The winery is best known for Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, as well as its beautiful landscape. Relax with a cool glass of Sauvignon Blanc in the middle of their expertly tended lavender fields or play bocce ball on their hand-rolled court as you watch the sun slowly sink over the distant mountains. If you don’t want to go that distance, there are plenty of vineyards right in Napa Valley to satisfy your wine tasting needs!
There is adventure to be had outside of Napa Valley! Until recently, the Vasco Caves Regional Preserve has been one of the best-kept secrets of California. The starting location is about an hour away from Churchill Manor, making it the perfect distance for a day trip from Napa Valley! Nestled in the foothills of Mt. Diablo, the park features grassy hills, staggered sandstone outcroppings, Native American petroglyphs, and many endangered species. If you’re not interested in traveling that far from Churchill Manor, there are tons of hiking spots in close proximity!
