On the north end of the Napa Valley you’ll find the beautiful and historic town of Calistoga, CA. Aside from its Victorian architecture and famous hot springs, given its location it is also home to some truly all American wineries. When visiting Napa Valley you’ll learn of all the different micro climate appellations and the vintages they specialize in. Calistoga is its own region and with wide ranging temperatures due to marine effects, it produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah. At Churchill Manor we love to send our guests off to visit the most highly recommended vineyards in each area. Here is a list of our favorite Calistoga wineries.
This winery is a wonderful combination of world class estate wines and gorgeous architecture. Its 450 acres are serene and even have caves to be explored. With numerous tasting and tour options it is definitely worth heading out here to see the breathtaking grounds and taste the delicious wines. Some of its most popular wines currently are a 2012 Chardonnay, a 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, a 2011 Red Blend, and a 2006 Harvest Chardonnay.
This Vineyard began back in 1974 when a Silicon Valley engineer wanted to live closer to the land. Now sitting on 85 acres and cultivating nine different grape varieties, this is one of the most well known Calistoga wineries. Not only will you love their wines, but you will thoroughly enjoy their old ranch feel.
Head to this exclusive vineyard to taste their small production, handcrafted wines, which are available only through their tasting room. The owners rescued an old vineyard on a steep foothill of Mount St. Helena, making for a beautiful setting.
This winery produces elegant Bordeaux-style wines, only putting out 3,000 cases a year. They are known for the excellent tours with knowledgeable, friendly guides who know how to make it a memorable experience. Their beautiful grounds have an old redwood stand and a creek running through them, creating a beautiful environment to spend part of a day.
The Tedeschi family has lived in Napa Valley for many generations, having immigrated from Italy. They also own one of Maui’s most famous wineries, and are very knowledge about wine making and the Calistoga area. Their beautiful family estate has been home since the 1950s, and was revamped and 1991 to represent an old country farm-to-table wine experience. They produce 1,200 cases annually of their delicious handcrafted wines.
These Calistoga wineries are full of personality and display the area’s natural beauty. Napa Valley’s wine country is worth every minute of your exploration. If wine isn’t your favorite libation you’ll still enjoy the gorgeous scenery and, in the case of Calistoga, the interesting history of a unique American community dedicated to preserving its roots. The Churchill Manor loves helping guests get the most out of their wine country experience, and our luxurious accommodations are a big part of that. Enjoy our beautiful grounds, estate wines, and spa on the perfect Napa Valley vacation.
